In 1969, a 14-year-old boy named Jerry Levitan skipped school and snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room in Toronto, Canada. Rather than kick him out, Lennon happily spoke to the boy and answered all of his questions.
38 years later, Jerry produced a short animated film about his incredible experience with the legendary singer, and it was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, and also went on to receive a number of other prestigious awards.
Using the original interview audio recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin incorporated the traditional pen sketching skills of James Braithwaite with the digital illustrations of Alex Kurina — which culminated in a masterpiece of art that captured John Lennon’s brilliant wit, revolutionary perspective, and timeless message for generations and generations to come.
